The last neighborhood block party was a huge success! We transformed our street into a festive gathering place with plenty of food, fun, and games. The aroma of sizzling barbecue filled the air as neighbors grilled their favorite meats. In addition, we had a delicious potluck spread featuring freshly popped popcorn, pasta salad, veggies, home-baked desserts, and more. Join us for the next one!
If you missed the block party, don't worry, every Tuesday night we take an invigorating walk that brings residents together for exercise and community building. These walks meander through scenic routes and past our homes. It's a great way to get some fresh air, meet new neighbors, and learn more about the area we call home. Come walk with us!
Ideas for Events
The Sandia Ridge Neighborhood Association is cooking up a variety of exciting events. We want to host an "Iron Kitchen" competition and garden parties. But we also have other ideas in mind like game nights, pet nights, and holiday celebrations. Do you have something you want us to organize? We'd love to hear it.
Ideas for Resource Sharing
Our neighborhood association fosters a strong sense of community by facilitating resource sharing among neighbors. We encourage residents to offer their skills, services, or items for sale, trade, or barter. This can be anything from handyman services to selling gently used household items such as clothes or toys. By sharing resources, we help each other save money, reduce waste, and build stronger connections within our neighborhood.
Ideas for Altruism
To create a more vibrant and supportive community, we want to organize neighborhood cleanups, yard cleanups, and conduct needs assessments to identify resource deficits. What would help our community thrive? It doesn't have to be solely within our neighborhood -- we could partner with local organizations and offer mentorship programs, skill-sharing workshops, or volunteering opportunities. Let us know your thoughts.
Ideas for Infrastructure Improvements
It's not only community building that we're interested in -- we want to make sure the neighborhood is well-maintained with its infrastructure.
Does a road need re-paving? Help us identify areas that need repair. We'll work with local officials to secure funding for road resurfacing.
Could your street use a speed hump? Propose installing speed humps in areas with excessive speeding to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Could an intersection use a crosswalk? Request adding crosswalks at busy intersections to facilitate safe pedestrian crossings.
By working together with local officials and community members, you can help improve the infrastructure of our neighborhood and create a safer, more enjoyable environment for everyone.
Ideas for Advocacy
Neighborhood associations have more say than individuals because they can vote as an association, which helps us prioritize the needs of our community. Let us know how we can make our neighborhood better, including in ways that haven't already been mentioned.
